Planning and execution of parallel cultivation experiments
Controlware supports the planning of simultaneous cultivation experiments by using predefined setpoint profiles. With setpoint profiles the user specifies the values for process variables and sampling sequences. User created profiles can be applied to bioreactor groups. This makes the planning of parallel cultivations easy. The entire cultivation experiment can be stored as a recipe. Users can reuse previously created recipes in future cultivation projects. Recipes provide reliability and repeatability to approved processes.

Execution of sampling and nutrient feeding sequences
Controlware supports the planning and execution of automatic sampling and nutrient feeding sequences. The sampling operations can be configured for various parameters such as sampling volumes, flush amount and the timing intervals for sampling. Nutrient feeding profiles can be individually set for each cultivation.

High degree of automation
Controlware enables high degree of automation. Cultivation experiments can be executed with minimal manual intervention. Human intervention is needed primarily to secure uninterrupted liquid and gas feeds for the bioreactors. As system level software, Controlware offers major savings in labor costs, documents the executed experimental processes and allows reruns of the experiments whenever needed.

On-line changes for process control
After the cultivation experiment has been started, Controlware allows on-line changes to defined setpoint profiles. On-line changes are primarily used in explorative research. All changes are stored in the database providing data for the creation of audit trails.

Automatic feed-back control of process variables
Controlware supports individual on-line feedback control of pH, temperature, and aeration for each cultivation. The agitation speed can also be individually controlled.
