Low Conductivity & Ultra-Pure Water Sensors

Source: Hamilton Company

Conductivity sensors measure the ability of a solution to conduct a current. The higher the concentration of ions in the solution, the higher the conductivity, which is measured in microSiemens (mS).

Conductivity sensors measure the ability of a solution to conduct a current. The higher the concentration of ions in the solution, the higher the conductivity, which is measured in microSiemens (mS). Unlike pH which only measures the concentration of hydrogen ions, conductivity measurements take into account all the ionic species present.

Conductivity measurements can be used to determine the concentration of a solution provided the dissolved species are known but will not differentiate between acid and base. A common use of conductivity measurement is found in CIP (clean-in-place) systems utilized in pharmaceutical and food applications. Here, specific concentrations of the cleaning solution are critical to the process as well as ensuring the solution has been completely rinsed away at the end of the cycle.

For many industrial and vital processes low conductivity liquids play a dominant role. The probably most important ones are drinking water, ultra-pure water, water for injection and boiler feed water. An accurate measurement is essential to monitor the quality of these liquids. It's carried out best by using Hamilton's 2-pole conductivity sensors in combination with the Arc technology.

Conducell PWSE Arc- UPW
The Conducell PWSE 2-pole conductivity sensors are designed for the use in liquids with very low conductivity, i.e. Ultra-Pure Water, Pure Water, Water For Injection, particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical as well as in the microelectronic industry. Available only with the innovative Arc technology.
