The Waters ZQ Mass Detector is a new, compact, single-quadrupole, atmospheric pressure ionization (API) mass spectrometry detector
Details

The ZQ Mass Detector is a new, compact, single-quadrupole, atmospheric pressure ionization (API) mass spectrometry detector. According to the manufacturer, the detector requires only 15-in. (39 cm) of linear bench space, is exceptionally sensitive, and offers the proven ruggedness of the patented ZSpray (dual orthogonal sampling) LC/MS interface.

When used in combination with the manufacturer's HPLC Systems, the detector gives scientists information about the molecular weight of pharmaceutical, biological, industrial, and environmental compounds. The information produced by the detector is then used to confirm the identity of those compounds. The detector is an addition to the ZMD and Integrity benchtop single- quadrupole mass spectrometry detector product line, and comprises the latest in electronic and vacuum technology.

ZQ detector models will be available with a mass range of either 2000 or 4000 Daltons and are expected to ship in the second half of this year. Optimized for use with the manufacturer's Alliance, Alliance HT, and component systems anchored by the manufacturer's 600 Solvent Delivery Module, the ZQ detector will also operate with HPLC systems made by other manufacturers. In addition, the detector is controlled by Micromass MassLynx 3.5 mass spectrometry software, which is timed for release with the detector's launch.
