The LUMIstar OMEGA is a compact and modular luminescence microplate reader that is designed for the widest possible range of applications based on luminescence labels.
LUMIstar Omega - Dedicated high performance microplate luminometer upgradeable to powerful multidetection reader with UV/Vis absorbance spectrometer
The LUMIstar Omega is a dedicated DLReadyTM certified microplate luminometer. This luminescence microplate reader provides highly sensitive reading of flash and glow luminescence assays including:
- Luciferase reporter gene assays, promoter analysis
- Luminescent immunoassays
- Cell-based assays and viability
- Intracellular Ca2+ with aequorin
- Ion channel, GPCR screening
- ATP assays
- GUS assays (ß-glucuronidase)
- ROS (reactive oxygen species)
- BRET assay for monitoring intermolecular interactions
- Enzyme activity assays (e.g. evaluation of PARP inhibitors, screen for cytochrome P450 inhibitors, protein kinase assay)
- Nucleic acid detection (PCR quantification)
Additional features
The LUMIstar Omega offers versatility through onboard "smart" injectors for dispensing reagents and initiating kinetic events. Other outstanding features include a built-in filter wheel for color discrimination assays, shaking, incubation up to 45°C or even 60°C, gas vent connection to support all major types of cell based assays, and much more. Simultaneous Dual Emission detection is also available for BRET applications.
Upgradeable to multidetection microplate reader with spectrometer
The LUMIstar Omega microplate luminometer can also be upgraded to a FLUOstar Omega multidetection microplate reader with additional fluorescence intensity and time-resolved fluorescence measurement capabilities. The LUMIstar Omega can be upgraded to the POLARstar Omega when the need for Fluorescence Polarization arises. The Omega multidetection microplate readers are also capable of capturing an ultra fast UV/Vis absorbance spectrum (220 - 850 nm) at a resolution of 1 nm. Read times faster than 1 second per well are possible.
Stacker and robot compatibility
For medium level throughput, the LUMIstar Omega can be equipped with a 50 plate Stacker with optional bar code reader. For even higher throughput, the LUMIstar Omega can be integrated into all existing robotic systems via DDE or ActiveX interface.
Software
The LUMIstar Omgea comes with a new version of BMG LABTECH's established Omega Reader Control software and comprehensive Data Analysis Software, MARS. The highly intuitive software provides limitless possibilities for test set up where it is needed, but also offers a "Quick-Start" mode for running routine analysis with just 3 mouse clicks. Additionally, a Template Manager can be used for building complex data processing protocols and one click data analysis. Improved robotic integration capabilities, digital signature and FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliance of MARS complete this new software package.
