Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2) Quantitated Viral DNA Control

Source: Advanced Biotechnologies Inc (ABI)
DNA and RNA controls can be used as positive or negative controls in DNA amplification reactions
Details

DNA and RNA controls can be used as positive or negative controls in DNA amplification reactions. The preparations are from purified virus, or virus-infected cells, allowing the investigator to amplify or test any region of the genome which is present in natural infections. These controls may also be utilized in nucleic acid hybridization reactions as controls for the detection of viral sequences.

VIRUS LOT SPECIFICATIONS

Virus:

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2).

Virus Preparation:

Sucrose density gradient purified virus, lot.

DNA EXTRACT SPECIFICATIONS

Catalog Number:

08-922-000.

Lot Number:

Expiration Date:

DNA Copy Number:

1 x 104 DNA copies/µl.

Unit Size:

250 microliters.

TECHNICAL DATA

Suspending Buffer:

10 mM Tris, 1 mM EDTA, pH 8.0.

Extract Preparation/DNA Qunatification:

SDS, proteinase K digestion followed by phenol/chloroform extraction and ethanol precipitation. Viral DNA copy number is determined by hybridization to radio-labeled probes in comparison to a copy number calibrated standard fragment. DNA copy number may vary dependent on the quantitation method used.

Shipping and Storage:

This product is shipped frozen on dry ice. Store at -20° C upon receipt. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as product degradation may result.

BIOHAZARD:

This lot of DNA was prepared from live virus and has not been specifically tested for residual infectivity. Therefore, it should be considered biohazardous and handled in accordance with biosafety guidelines defined in NIH-CDC HHS publication No. (CDC) 93-8395.
