Patheon's sterile product development and manufacturing capabilities incorporate the use of disposable (single-use) technologies. Working with leading disposable technology providers Patheon has developed specialized aseptic product process trains which use disposable technologies for all product contact points such as single-use bags, aseptic filters and peristaltic pumps. All of the disposable technologies used by Patheon have been validated to meet the highest regulatory standards and can be applied to a variety of molecule types including small molecules, proteins, peptides and MAbs.

This innovative combination of disposable technologies available at Patheon offers significant advantages to our clients including shortened timelines and decreased capital expenditures.

Single-Use Bags:
Patheon has co-designed a single use disposable bag system as an alternative to traditional stainless steel vessels. Implementation of this technology avoids incompatibilities with traditional stainless steel vessels and minimizes filling line losses.

Peristaltic Pumps:
The use of peristaltic pumps help to eliminate the need for costly cleaning validations while still providing precision filling accuracy in a system that is well-suited to fill challenging media types such as slurries, viscous solutions, and shear-sensitive fluids as well as conventional liquid products.

Monobloc Filling Line:
Swindon Operations operates a monobloc vial filling line which is fully dedicated to customer development projects. This highly versatile and fully automated filling line incorporates a modern design allowing for rapid product changeover and the efficient integration of disposable components.
