OriGene prides itself on being the cDNA clone partner of choice for the biomedical research community. Pioneering the development of patented processes for the isolation of full-length cDNA and rapid expression profiling techniques, OriGene has commercialized an extensive gene bank of authentic full-length CDNA clones in a standard expression vector. In combination with related gene expression reagents, our offerings enable high-throughput functional analysis and the determination of disease specificity. OriGene is committed to its mission of isolating a complete collection of authentic human full-length cDNAs and to develop technologies and applications focusing on System Biology approaches to gene function analysis. We actively solicit suggestions from the biomedical research community for new clones to be added to our collection.
GFC-Transfection Arrays (Genome Wide Full-Length cDNA) Arrays
The post genomic area introduced many novel and exciting genome-wide assay platforms, including high-throughput gain-of-function screening, a rapidly emerging technique for identifying genes (see
white paper and
publications) that are involved in biological processes. OriGene introduced the GFC-Transfection Arrays as a revolutionary tool for this high-throughput functional screening method.
GFC-Transfection Arrays (click for list and pricing of current arrays and
lists of genes in each layout of current arrays) are sets of CMV-driven expression ready individual cDNA clones arrayed in a 384 well format. Each clone is from OriGene’s TrueClone collection of full-length human cDNA clones and each clone is available separately for immediate shipment. GFC-Transfection Arrays are standardized, easy to use and ready for assay. With this product, researchers are no longer restricted to study one gene at a time, but can functionally screen thousands of genes (up to the entire genome) in fast, inexpensive and convenient gain-of-function assays.

GFC-Transfection Arrays can be used to study a wide range of biological processes:
- Gene function
- Transcriptional regulation
- Association to specific pathway
- Cell and tissue-specific gene expression
- Cell proliferation and differentiation
- Developmental gene regulation
- Apoptosis
- Host-pathogen interactions
- Sensitivity to drugs and small molecules.
GFC-Transfection Arrays are adaptable for high-throughput readout assays that include:
- Reporter gene assays
- Receptor activation assays (e.g., G-protein coupled receptor assays)
- Nuclear translocations of protein markers
- Enzymatic assays
- Immunoassays
- Protein interaction assays
- Cell proliferation assays
- Apoptosis assays
- Cell toxicity assays
- Morphological assays
