Medicel is a privately held biotechnology company headquartered in Espoo, Finland. The company was founded in March 2001 with the mission of developing new technologies to speed up the transition from the component centric- to a system centric research paradigm. Our multi-disciplinary organization includes scientist from the fields of medicine, molecular biology, mathematics, computer science, electrical- and mechanical engineering.
Medicel provides a bench top bioreactor system for parallel cell cultivations, automatic sampling, in line analysis and rapid perturbations. It is designed for the growing number of bioprocess applications which require complex cell cultivation and experimentation protocols including optimization of growth conditions, screening of cell strains, toxicology and systems biology.
Use of Medicel Explorer in Bioprocess Applications
Due to its broad functionality and high degree of automation Medicel Explorer supports the planning and execution of complex experiments at different stages of the traditional bioprocess development. They include screening of cell strains for product yields, optimization of growth conditions for the selected strain and scale up of the manufacturing process.
Cell cultivation experiments for high data content applications including drug discovery, toxicology, metabolic engineering and systems biology.
Application specific cell cultivation experiments executed in an automated cultivation environment such as Medicel Explorer are important success factors in the production of cell samples having molecular phenotypes likely to render useful biological data. The high level of automation and equipment integration of Medicel Explorer provide additional benefits in the form of in line measurement data, reduced cultivation costs and shorter cultivation times.
