Rentschler To Hold 3rd Industrial Cell Culture Tech Conference

Rentschler Biotechnologie GmbH announced that it will hold the third Industrial Cell Culture Technology Conference this June in Laupheim, Germany.

With its biennial “Laupheimer Zelltage” conference, Rentschler brings together global leaders and experts in the field of biotechnology. The company has previously hosted Laupheimer Zelltage 1 (“Cell Factories of the Future”) and 2 (“Bioprocess Light”).

This year’s conference is entitled “Processes for Virus-Based Biologics” and will focus on all relevant aspects to platform technologies for the manufacture and control of viral biopharmaceuticals. These include viral vectors, oncolytic viruses, and virus-based vaccines. The conference is open to international academic and industrial experts in cell culture and process technology for the production of virus-based biologics.

Topics for the conference are broken down into three main categories. First is the ‘Oncolytic Virotherapy:  A Promising Weapon to Defeat Cancer?’ will include discussion on engineering viruses, virotherapy, and production processes for viruses. Second is ‘Recent Achievements in Gene Therapeutics Development and Application’ which will cover barriers for gene therapy and virotherapy among others. Last is ‘Trends in Manufacturing and Control of Virus-based Biologics’ which will include discussion on novel molecular tools and process technologies in virus production.

The keynote lecture for the program will be held by Florian Wurm of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Speakers at the symposium will include: Marc Federspiel of Mayo Clinic, USA, speaking on ‘Production and Purification of Two Oncolytic Viruses for Human Clinical Trials Treating Cancer’; Kilian Guse of GeneQuine Biotherapeutics, Germany speaking on ‘Helper-dependent Adenoviral Vectors for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis’; and Peter Czermak of the Institute of Bioprocess Engineering and Pharmaceutical Technology, Germany speaking on ‘Development and Control of a Production Process of Virus Particles for the Use in Cancer Therapy’ among others.
