Freeze Drying Problem HPLC Fractions

Source: Genevac Inc.

Freeze drying of HPLC fractions containing volatile solvents such as acetonitrile can be problematic. The volatile solvent often does not freeze and therefore can cause solvent bumping and sample loss. Additionally the volatile solvent can cause difficulties when attempting to reach the very deep vacuum levels required for effective freeze drying.

Recent technical developments on Genevac centrifugal evaporators have enabled users to achieve rapid and safe lyophilisation of HPLC fractions.

A technical report is available that details the innovative technology functions and demonstrates how the problems encountered when drying HPLC fractions can be overcome.
