INI-0602
INI-0602 is a blood-brain barrier permeable gap junction hemichannel blocker that inhibits neurotoxic microglial glutamate release. Glutamate from activated microglia induces excitotoxic neuronal death, which contributes to noncell autonomous neuronal death in diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer's. INI-0602 ameliorates disease symptoms of mouse models. Learn more.

Taking Cancer Research To The Streets? There's An App For That
By Lori Clapper, Editor
On a flight back from a recent press event, I decided to pass the time by reading a copy of United Airline's in-flight magazine Hemispheres. I admit I don't always pick up these publications when I travel, but perhaps it was serendipitous that I forgot my own book at home this time. As I flipped through the pages, one particular article caught my attention. It discussed the heightened interest and potential growth of citizen science — using ordinary people to help advance research. |

ADCs: The Next Big Opportunity For Oncology Drugs
By Cliff Mintz, Ph.D., contributing editor, Life Science Leader
While engineered mAbs like Rituxan and Herceptin have proven to be effective therapeutic agents, researchers are increasingly evaluating the use of antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), or so-called “empowered antibodies,” as potential new treatments for a variety of cancers. But the size of the ADC market is difficult to accurately assess because there is only one approved product on the U.S. market today.

The Role Of Desiccators To Reduce Humidity In Critical Environments
By Mike Buckwalter, Terra Universal
Desiccator storage has become critical in more and more manufacturing operations. A look at the costly effects of moisture exposure explains why. As critical components become smaller and more sophisticated, their susceptibility to moisture damage increases. Once absorbed by sensitive components, water creates a number of potentially disastrous conditions.

Reinventing Drug Titration For IC50 Determinations
Tecan and HP have teamed up to reinvent the drug titration process for small molecules by providing a solution which eliminates the traditional serial dilution process, going from concept to experiment to results much faster, and giving access to compound studies that were previously impractical.
