Transfer And Scale-Up Of A 10L Glass Reactor Process To 50L And 200L XDR Single-Use Bioreactors

Source: Xcellerex

Xcellerex provides predictive modeling and scale-up support to aid customers in determining the initial XDR bioreactor process parameters (included with bioreactor purchase). This poster presents an example of a technology transfer from a 10L bench-top bioreactor to Xcellerex's single-use bioreactors at the 50L and 200L scales (XDR-50 and XDR-200).

Customer process details for a 10L reactor were analyzed and used as a basis for scale-up of the process to a XDR-50 and XDR-200. The calculations for the process scale up were done using either equal tip speed or equal kLa. This data was then used to initiate cell culture runs in the XDR-50 and XDR-200. Scale-up was successful in both the XDR-50 and XDR-200 reaching higher viable cell densities than the XDR-10 and metabolite profiles for each of the bioreactors were similar.
