Thermo Fisher Scientific Announces New Serum-Free Cell Culture Medium

A High-Performance Animal-Derived Component Free Insect Cell Culture Medium

Logan, UT - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today introduced Thermo Scientific HyClone SFM4Insect, an Animal-Derived Component Free (ADCF) and protein-free medium for insect cell cultures.

HyClone® SFM4Insect cell culture medium is developed through Metabolic Pathway Design to support growth of many key insect cell lines and production of a variety of recombinant proteins. Insect cells need only minimal adaptation to SFM4Insect to provide growth performance superior to formulations that contain animal origin components. The medium has been successfully tested in a variety of culture systems including traditional and disposable bioreactors for production of recombinant proteins using the Baculovirus Expression Vector System.

In addition to component traceability, regulatory friendly ADCF and protein-free characteristics, cGMP and ISO compliant facility manufacturing have also been maintained to provide cell culture and bioprocessing customers a quality product. SFM4Insect is available in liquid form in 500 mL and 1 L bottles, and in 1 L to 200 L BioProcess Containers or custom packaging. The medium is also available as a powder for research through production applications.
