Back-to-Back Body Adapters and Sanitary Inserts Increase Bioprocessing Flexibility

Colder Products Company is expanding its MPC and MPX quick disconnect product lines to include back-to-back body adapters and sanitary inserts, giving biopharmaceutical manufacturers greater flexibility in combining single-use components and systems. These new connection solutions are ideal for a wide range of single-use applications, including bag-to-bag transfer, tubing manifolds and hybrid systems that combine single-use and stainless equipment.

"MPC and MPX quick connects are an industry standard, and the new back-to-back body adapters and sanitary inserts are a direct response to customer requests for expanded options," said John Boehm, business unit manager, bioprocessing markets. "End-users will benefit from the added process flexibility of making quick and secure transitions between standard sanitary fittings and quick connects as well as easily combining systems that incorporate different tubing sizes."

Offered in polycarbonate and polysulfone materials, Colder's MPC and MPX back-to-back body adapters enable end users to connect off-the-shelf single-use systems that feature male coupling inserts. This offering enables users to combine two bags together that both use male inserts. Being able to combine differing inserts also provides a reducing option for users who need to transition between tubing with diameters ranging from 1/8" to 1/2".

Available in polysulfone material, the Colder MPC and MPX 3/4" and 1-1/2" sanitary inserts allow connections to equipment or single-use systems that feature sanitary fittings. Biopharmaceutical manufacturers use this quick connection with fixed equipment such as bioreactors, mixing vessels and tangential-flow filtration systems. Integrating the MPC and MPX connectors with single-use filter capsules provides enhanced connectivity and more flexibility for post-integrity testing of the filters.

Colder's MPC and MPX couplings and other bioprocessing connections meet USP Class VI and ADCF requirements. They are manufactured in an ISO Class 7 certified cleanroom. Contact Colder for validation test summaries, biocompatibility and extractables data.
