BioTek Instruments And Millipore Collaborate On Application Note For Hormone Assay Panel
Winooski VT - BioTek Instruments, Inc., in collaboration with Millipore Corporation, has released the application note, "Automated Magnetic Bead Washing of Metabolic Hormone Assays" featuring BioTek's new ELx405™ Magnetic Bead Washer and Millipore's MILLIPLEX™ MAP Metabolic Hormone Assay Panel. The application details the use of the ELx405 Magnetic Bead Washer to automate the various wash steps used with the MILLIPLEX MAP assay as it pertains to a hormone assay panel. This assay is appropriate for researchers working with cytokines, acute phase proteins, diabetes biomarkers, and other hormones.
The system allows researchers to measure up to 14 analytes simultaneously by multiplexing specific primary antibodies onto a micrometer-scale magnetic bead. During the assay process, the magnetic beads are washed several times; the ELx405 Magnetic Bead Washer retains the beads in each microplate well for rapid and efficient wash cycles. Fluorescently labeled analyte molecules bound to the primary antibody are detected via a Luminex multiplex system.
