Wako has two kits for the extraction of mitochondrial DNA. One is designed for use with human whole blood, and the other is for use with cells and tissues. Both kits provide a simple and efficient method for extraction of mtDNA. The procedure takes about 90 minutes. The mtDNA preparation has less contamination of genomic DNA and is suitable for analyses with restriction enzymes and PCR amplification. No hazardous chemicals are used.
