Technical Bulletin: Particle Shedding From Magnetic Driven Mixing Turbine Of The Jet-Drive Single Use Mixing System
One of the biggest questions surrounding the use of disposable mixing systems is the possibility of particulate shedding into the solution being mixed during the mixing operation. It is wise to assume that all mixing operations will result in some degree of particle addition to the solution. The question that this report set out to answer was how many particles of what size.
Mixing systems where two surfaces move against each other during the mixing process are generally viewed as the biggest particle load generators. Most magnetic driven mixing systems will generate particles through physical abrasion. This report is designed to show the reader the manufacturing processes used by ATMI to minimize particle generation during mixing, and the actual levels of two different critical sizes of particles generated during worse case operating conditions.
