Pall Megaplast housings are manufactured from PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy), PVDF (Polyvinylidenedifluoride) or polypropylene. This range represents a significant advance in filter housing design. The housings are crevice-free and can be used at high pressures (with suitable safety measure implemented), and their filter cartridges can be installed and changed quickly and easily.

As a result of computer-aided design and high technology plastic molding techniques, Megaplast housings can be used for high flow-rate applications with very low corresponding pressure drops.

All fluid contact surfaces are molded rather than machined, to provide very smooth surfaces with a high level of particulate cleanliness when compared with other currently available plastic filter housings.

Easy to use, Megaplast housings are constructed from three parts - head, bowl, and collar. The screw-threaded closure provides a positive and effective seal, and is not wetted by the fluid being filtered (i.e., no potential contaminant are traps introduced), and the design avoids unnecessary stress being placed on the internal closure O-ring. The coarse collar thread allows quick one-handed operation, without thread galling.

Easy to install, the inlet and outlet connections are either non-wetted international standard DIN, or butt weld. DIN connections enable the housing to be fitted to or removed from pipework systems without disĀturbing existing pipework. Megaplast housings also incorporate a 6 mm (¼ in.) BSP parallel female vent and drain port as part of the bowl, complete with plug and seal. seal protected non-wetted threads elimiĀnate potential sources of contamination.

The housings accommodate either one Pall AB Code 3 style filter cartridge which features a high security double O-ring sealing mechanism, or the RF-style Profile II filter cartridge which employs a knife edge seal, tie-rod and seal nut. PVDF housings are available in two lengths to accommodate either 10 in. (254 mm) or 20 in. (504 mm) nominal length filter cartridges. PFA and natural polypropylene housings are designed to use one 10 in. (254 mm) nominal length filter.

Features and Benefits

  • Three part construction (head, collar and bowl)
  • DIN outlet and inlet connections (natural polypropylene and PVDF housings only)
  • 6 mm (1/4 in.) butt weld inlet and outlet connections (PFA housings only)
  • Threads not wetted by process fluid
  • All product wetted surfaces are molded (not machined), providing a very smooth, high quality surface finish
  • Constructed from PFA, PVDF or natural polypropylene
  • AB Code 3 fitting molded into head design
  • Plug-in element secured in position by bowl
  • Mounting bracket is part of the head molding (PFA housings), or can be fitted (PVDF and natural polypropylene housings)
  • Choice of Pall AB Code 3 or RF style filter cartridges
