The Whole Blood and Cell Culture DNA Isolation Kit is formulated to isolate high molecular weight genomic DNA from blood or cell cultures without the use of organic deproteinizing reagents such as phenol or chloroform. The method is based on the isolation of intact nuclei, from which DNA is extracted. RNase is used to digest nuclear RNA and Proteinase K to partially digest nuclear proteins. The DNA yields from whole blood samples usually depend upon the source and storage conditions. The same kit can also be used to extract DNA from cultured or isolated cells from animal and plant tissues.
Genomic DNA isolated according to the directions supplied with the kit is suitable for use in most molecular biology protocols including PCR and digestion with restriction enzymes. The kit contains the reagents, buffers and enzymes for the isolation of intact genomic DNA from 50 x 1ml whole blood or cell culture samples.
