UNOsphere SUPrA Instruction Manual UNOsphere SUPrA™ media are affinity chromatography support based on recombinant protein A. The media are designed for process-scale purification of monoclonal antibodies. The protein A ligand is produced in E. coli without the use of material from animal origin. The UNOsphere base bead is a macroporous polymeric bead that is designed for robust and scaleable process applications. 07/02/2009 141.2 KB
Bulletin: Monoclonal Antibody Purification Using UNOsphere SUPrA Media The first step in purification of an important class of therapeutic proteins, the polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), is their capture from plasma or tissue culture supernatants. Protein A–based media are by far the most common class of affinity products used for this purpose. They bind with high affinity to the Fc region of most subclasses of antibodies and are one of the standard tools used in antibody capture and purification. 07/02/2009 376.0 KB
Bulletin: UNOsphere SUPrA Affinity Chromatography Media UNOsphere SUPrA affinity media are designed for process-scale purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. These affinity media are built on the proven UNOsphere matrix for predictable performance over a wide range of antibody concentrations. 07/02/2009 390.9 KB
Bulletin: CFT™ Ceramic Fluoroapatite Media CFT ceramic fluoroapatite, Ca10(PO4)6F2, is a rigid, spherical macroporous support used in the purification of biologically active compounds. CFT is a composite of fluoroapatite and hydroxyapatite prepared by chemically converting hydroxyapatite nanocrystals to fluoroapatite with a fluorine reagent. 07/02/2009 133.7 KB
Bulletin: Chimeric IgG Monoclonal Antibody Purification This tech note describes the purification of a chimeric IgG mAb using a two-step purification platform consisting of UNOsphere SUPrA™ medium capture followed by a CHT ceramic hydroxyapatite or CFT ceramic fluoroapatite media polishing step. The results demonstrate that both CHT and CFT deliver highly purified chimeric IgG by removing leached protein A, host cell protein (HCP), DNA, and mAb aggregates. 07/02/2009 174.3 KB
White Paper: Automated, Single-Use Purification Platforms In Biopharmaceutical Production The use of disposable bioreactors and single-use purification platforms for Normal Flow Filtration (NFF), Tangetial Flow Filtration(TFF) and Preparative Chromatography have received significant attention in years. Up to very recently, the use of single-use purification platforms was limited almost exclusively to manually operated systems. The transitioning from manual to automated single-use purification systems has been limited primarily by the availability of appropriate sensors and detectors and other in-line system components. Application Note: Evaluation Of PARP Inhibitors: Performed On BMG LABTECH’s FLUOstar Omega Poly ADP-ribosylation is a post-translational modification of proteins that plays a crucial role in regulating DNA repair. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) transfers ADP-ribose to itself and other nuclear proteins such as histones. The substrate for that reaction is NAD+. By BMG LABTECH, GmbH 07/01/2009 230.5 KB

White Paper: Research Efficiency In Hard Times: It’s Time To Adapt Nobody likes hard times, but they do have one redeeming quality: They focus attention on areas neglected in good times. The need for greater efficiency is a prime example, especially for small drug development companies. Even in the best of times, they must cope with the formidable combination of high costs, long timelines, and low success rates. And when hard times come, they feel it first and most acutely. These companies should be the first to ask: Is there a better way? By Michael Rosenberg, M.D., MPH, Life Science Leader magazine 06/23/2009 65.6 KB
Brochure: XPert® TXE™ Equipment Enclosures XPert® TXE™ Equipment Enclosure is designed to address the needs of pharmaceutical research and quality control laboratories. It provides a safe, ventilated space for keeping powder-generating apparatus contained. Its tall 42" interior height accommodates equipment such as pill presses, grinders, crushers and sieves. HEPA-filtered air is returned to the laboratory. 06/19/2009 251.1 KB

White Paper: The Key Considerations Of Clinical Trials Clinical trials are only a small part of the research that goes into developing a new treatment. Drugs of the future, for example, first have to be discovered, purified, described, and tested in labs (in cell and animal studies) before ever reaching human clinical trials. About 1,000 potential drugs are tested before just one reaches the point of being tested in a clinical trial. By William McGinnis, Life Science Leader magazine 06/18/2009 59.8 KB
White Paper: Good Housekeeping: The Art Of Contamination Controls It took Dr. Joseph Lister a while to convince physicians that something invisible had to be protected against, but since the concept took hold, cleanliness has been a major concern in life sciences. Now there are numerous standards defining “clean” in hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotech labs, and other life sciences areas, plus numerous options for meeting those standards. Article: Scaling Up From Bench Through Commercialization A biopharmaceutical scientist’s scale-up journey often starts when he or she gets some sketchy information from a research colleague on “an exciting molecule with great biological activities!” The challenge begins with establishing a cell line, then involves scaling up the process to a pilot scale and producing initial material by means of a suboptimal process. Process knowledge increases exponentially from the first experiment until when a company has finally scaled its process up to a commercial scale. By Maninder Hora 06/17/2009 253.9 KB
Article: Process Development: Turning Science Into Technology Manufacturing process development is crucial to the success of a biotherapeutic entity. Even the best “miracle drug” will make it to just a select few patients if it’s too expensive to make—and if it’s too delicate to survive processing and/or delivery, even that may be too much to ask.
