Polestar Technologies Introduces New Oxygen Sensor For The Regenerative Medicine Market

Polestar Technologies, a leading provider of innovating sensing technologies and sensor systems for the biopharma, biofuels and regenerative medicine industries is pleased to announce the introduction of its latest oxygen (O2) sensor. This new oxygen sensor can measure O2 levels from less than 1% to 100% pure oxygen, providing scientists and researchers with the ability to measure the widest range of O2 levels possible.

Needham Heights, MA (PRWEB) - Polestar's precise oxygen sensors are designed for any application in which measurements of very high levels of O2 are required. One industry example is regenerative medicine (also known as tissue engineering) given that high levels of oxygen are required to promote healthy growth of tissue in real time. Polestar's flow-cells equipped with the new O2 sensors are an ideal product for measuring input and output oxygen as a way to determine oxygen consumption by the tissue. This specific configuration is used by Polestar Technologies' partner in the regenerative medicine market, Harvard Apparatus, part of Harvard Bioscience, Inc.

Not only can this new Polestar oxygen sensor measure a wide range of O2 levels, it is highly accurate—better than 0.4% at 90% O2. After standardization, sensing accuracy improves to better than 0.3% at 90% O2. The measurements are also extremely precise, for example, 0.1% at 90% O2. In addition, the response time for this oxygen sensor is one of the fastest available; T90 is less than 15 seconds, which means that in a scenario where the user changes the level of O2, the sensor will be within 10% of the true reading in less than 15 seconds.

According to Rusty Warren, President of the Products Division of Polestar Technologies, "This sensor gives scientists in regenerative medicine a new capability and will help accelerate this important research."

As with all of Polestar Technologies' stainless steel probes and sensors, these new oxygen sensors can be sterilized by autoclave, steam, or gamma radiation. The sensors are made of USP Class VI certified materials, can withstand operating temperatures between zero and 60 degrees centigrade, and include automatic temperature compensation. Polestar Technologies' new O2 sensors are compatible with the Polestar DSP4000 monitor.

About Polestar Technologies, Inc.
Founded in 1993, Polestar Technologies Inc. is a leading provider of optical monitors, sensors, and probes for lab, industrial, and commercial applications. Polestar manufactures monitors and sensors that are the standard for accurately measuring oxygen (O2), pH, and carbon dioxide (CO2) and makes the only monitor that measures all elements at once. The company also produces a variety of single use (disposable) sensors to service a variety of industries with a focus on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical (biopharma) and bioprocessing industries. In addition to its products, Polestar has a technology consulting division and also conducts sensor research and technology development for NIH, NASA, and DARPA as well as other government agencies. Polestar's sensor products are the direct result of that research and are used by Fortune 100 companies worldwide. For more information, please visit http://www.polestartech.com
