Innovative Insulin-Like Growth Factor Media (IGF-1) From Ajinomoto Delivers Consistent Yields With 100x Increased Purity Over Existing Serums

September 20, 2007

Ajinomoto announces a new breakthrough patentable bacteria r-protein expression system which makes large scale production (kilogram) of IGF-1 possible. This process overcomes traditional manufacturing difficulties to deliver efficiently produced, large scale batches of non-animal original raw materials.

Ajinomoto's innovative process uses a unique expression system, corynebacterium glutamicum (amino acid producer). The Ajinomoto system employs cultivation, cell removal, and a simple purification process. Refolding and cell disruption is very limited to allow for highly purified active IGF-1.

Previous use of IGF-1 in cell culture media created major stumbling blocks with increased costs, inconsistencies, and impurities. The traditional E.coli expression system of cultivation, cell harvest, and its complex purification process resulted in cell disruption and refolding with a net yield of as little as 50% Ajinomoto's expression system delivers cost efficiency and production at levels 100x more active than serum insulin.

IGF-1 becomes a viable option for cell culture operations not currently using IGF-1 Ajinomoto IGF-1 is available for immediate delivery.
