There is a growing interest for biodegradable synthetic polymer used in oral controlled released drug delivery.
Carboxymethyl high amylose starch (CM-HAS) is able to control the drug release over 20h from monolithic tablet with 20 to 60% of drug loading and offers an gastric protection for oral formulation containing large and small molecules as well as microorganisms.
Drying processes have a significant effect on the physical and solid-state properties of materials and subsequent formulation characteristics.
