Technical Bulletin: Chemically Defined CHO Feed Collection
By SAFC Biosciences
A collection of prototype, non-cGMP, chemically defined (CD) and animal-component free (ACF) feeds was developed in response to the need to replace undefined and regulatoryadverse supplements traditionally used in culture of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. The nutritional and physiological requirements of CHO cells were examined using spent media analysis and historical data. This information was incorporated into the design of each formulation, generating a platform of CD CHO feeds that can be used to improve cell growth and productivity. Once the customer applicationspecific formulation and feed strategy process is optimized, SAFC Biosciences™ imMEDIAte ADVANTAGE™ and Process and Product Services groups can determine feasibility and scaleability of large-scale, cGMP manufacture.
